The game we now know as bingo went first to France, where it was adopted by the elite, then to Germany, where it was used for a more practical purpose – teaching arithmetic and language skills to children.

The game known as bingo had infused Europe thoroughly by the 1800s, and it first came to the United States in the 1900s. One of the great things about bingo is how easy it is to play. The game of bingo can be learned in a matter of minutes, and unlike many casino games the play is easy to follow. In addition, bingo is an attractive fundraiser for many organizations, not only because it is so lucrative but also due to the fact that it can be played virtually anywhere.

After all, the only equipment needed to start a game of bingo is a set of bingo cards, plenty of bingo markers and of course the bingo cage which holds the numbered balls.

Everyone is familiar with the traditional bingo card, with its 24 numbered spaces and the free space, but there are a number of specialty bingo cards on the market as well. These specialty bingo cards are most often used for educational purposes, such as teaching children math and science. Some bingo cards, designed for young children, will have pictures of animals on them, and they are often used to teach words and language skills to children.

Every player has his or her own favorite bingo cards, and you will likely see the players eagerly sorting through the cards looking for the best numbers. Like all other games, there is a strategy to playing bingo, and it is important for each player to establish his or her own playing strategy.
